About the workshop

The Lemanic Jazz Workshop is a one week long intensive jazz and improvised music training course. It has been taking place during each summer since 2017. It is led by a team of young professional recognized and promising swiss musicians.

The workshop’s aims

  • Immersion in the main aspects of jazz and improvised musics by playing regularly as a group.
  • Meet other musicians or strengthen previous links between musicians.
  • Enjoy playing together, sharing a common passion.
  • Perform on stage during public concerts

The workshop’s contents

  • Selecting of a repertoire
  • Study of the selected repertoire in ensembles
  • Specific periods of studies : listening, analyzing, practicing the instrument, rhythm, music theory
  • Individuals lessons
  • Free time, listening sessions, jam sessions

For whom is this workshop ?

The Lemanic Jazz Workshop is aimed mainly at musicians living on the Lemanic area and Romandie, interested in group playing and improvisation.
The workshop is open to students aged 13-14 and older. All instruments (voice included) are welcome. Motivation is the most essential but it’s important that the participants already master their instrument well and have a bit praticed improvisation.
That said, all applications are welcomed and will be taken attentively into consideration.


Practical informations

The 2024 edition of the Lemanic Jazz Workshop will happen from Monday 5th to Saturday 10th of August. It will take place at the music school Espace Musical in the city center of Geneva (Eaux-Vives).

Two public performances are scheduled at the end of the workshop:

Regular work schedule (Mon-Fri) : 09:40 am to 1 pm / 2 pm to 6 pm
Meal : Not provided (excepted saturday evening)
Accommodation : Not provided, but inexpensive suggestions on demand
Fees : CHF 630.- / 470.-* (registration before March 1st, 2024)
CHF 670.- / 510.-* (registration from March 1st, 2024)

The number of participants is limited to around 15 people.
